THE MOON IS A FATHER OF MINE

Synopsis

Georgia, autumn 1991. Twelve-year-old Toma lives with his grandmother in Tbilisi and has grown up without knowing his father. Shortly after Georgia declares independence, Nemo returns following years in prison and takes his son to their ancestral mountain village. Surrounded by people who have not forgotten Nemo’s troubled past, father and son set out into the wilderness, where Nemo begins teaching Toma how to hunt and survive. Their difficult journey gradually becomes the first real opportunity for them to understand one another. Against the harsh beauty of the Georgian mountains, Toma confronts fear, loyalty, responsibility, and the complicated legacy of his father as childhood begins to give way to adulthood.
