Synopsis

Living in isolation in a tropical colony, a European doctor is approached by a young married woman seeking his secret assistance. His refusal, accompanied by a humiliating condition, sets a tragic chain of events in motion. Adapted from Stefan Zweig’s celebrated novella, the film is a dramatic tale of obsession, desire, guilt, and belated remorse.
